After leaving Panchagarh for Thakurgaon I took a few pics on the way. I perform my prayer at Bhully and took pic there too. Then cycling again and suddenly I saw a signboard of "BADC Potato Block", where the name of that area was mentioned as Singpara. I remembered the incidents of falling meteorite this year on this area. So, I stopped at the next tea stall and talked to the local people about it. After asking a lot some of them recalled the incidents and confirmed me about the exact location of it. The distance between Boda and Thakurgaon was about 20 KM and from there the residence of DC was about 2 KM away. On the highway I saw the "Thakurgaon Radio Station" before reaching the town. From this point I reached the residence of DC within 45 minutes. I took guidance about the roads from Traffic, General People and the staffs of circuit house. There I met CA of DC and he informed me that everyone of the town is now attending a program at the Town Auditorium. So, I went there and met NDC. He told me to watch the program or do anything before going to circuit house as he will phone to circuit house after some time. So, watching their program for sometime, I went to the press club. I met a few reporters over there, talked to them and got phone numbers of the district representative of Prothom Alo. I was there till 10 o'clock. Leaving this place I went to the circuit house but the staffs told me that the NDC has not phoned them. So, they try to phone NDC and got him after 10/15 minutes. The staffs talked with him and prepared a room for me. Then I went to the room start recording my diary. After recording the diary I set the battery on charge, took bath, performed my prayer and went to sleep. At 7 o'clock I left the circuit house to reach the "Singpara Village". There was a road beside the Radio Station of Thakurgaon which leads to this village. The reason to visit that place was to see the spot where meteorite fell and to talk with the people who observed the incidents. After entering by the side road of Radio Station I start to ask people about the spot. At last a young boy point to a man and said that he is the landlord of the house where it fell. I went to meet him Mr. Habibur Rahman and asked him about the incidents. He was escorting his daughter to school for her exam. He told me everything while we took tea at a stall opposite to the "Khaleda Zia High School". After waiting for some time his nephew Imran arrived at the stall and took me to their house. He showed me the spot and very happy to meet me. He told me that I was very lucky to be there at that day. They had left the spot untouched since it fell but before tomorrow they will be filling up the hole for some crop. Later he describe a lots of things happened on that day. He was the son of Fazlur Rahman, who is brother of Habibur Rahman. Actually the meteorite fell inside the boundary of Fazlur Rahman. Later Imran's friend SHankar also arrived there. I talked with the some other persons viewed the incidents and listened their experience. At 11 o'clock I left Imran upset and cycle towards the DC office. On the way, I took few pics at town. The DC was not at the office and I wait for him. Upon his return I knew that he is unable to meet me today due to his tight schedule. So, I meet the ADC (General) and got the letter from him. Then I cycle back to the circuit house to collect my cycle's key. Then I start cycling for the next district after 3 o'clock. I stopped at the office of TMSS (An well-known NGO of Bangladesh). There I met the Branch Manager, Mr. Amzad Hossain and talked with him. Next I stopped at a canteen of BDR (Open for all) to have my lunch. Thus I came to the ending point of Thakurgaon District. |
