I entered the Sylhet district by Fenchuganj Upazila just before the sunset. Within a few minutes after crossing the welcome signboard of Sylhet I came to a bridge. I understood that there is a small town or something like that at the left side of the bridge. So, I stopped my cycle before the bridge and asked some local people how far the next upazila or the main town of Sylhet District is? They told me that after crossing this bridge there will be no big town before Sylhet which was about 30 KM away. So, I decided to look for a place here. I asked them if there are any accommodation facility like hotel, boarding or dakbunglow I can get nearby. They told me that the Dakbunglow of Fenchuganj Upazila is closest to me which I can find by getting down the road beside the bridge. I took his advice and find it soonest. The caretaker over there told me that currently he can provide me a single bed in a room but there is another boarder at that room living on other bed. He asked me to show the Authorisation Letter of UNO. I asked him about the direction where I can get UNO and he told me to reach his office. I cycled a bit inside from the bunglow for his office. But he was not there at his office. An old man (Staff of the office) came out and showed me the house of him. I wait outside and he went inside with my papers. Soon he came out with the UNO. He told me that he does not know if there is any bed he can offer at Dakbunglow. I describe him what I knew from the caretaker and he asked me if it I have any problem to stay in that room with a stranger. When I told him that I don't have any problem then he asked that old man to escort me till Dakbinglow. He said sorry for he can't help me in other ways. I went there with him and the caretaker welcomed me gladly. As the boarder of that room had the room-key was outside I couldn't enter at the room. I left my luggage in the room of caretaker and went outside. I roamed around the area and went to market to get an idea of the restaurant's location and duration. Later I came to dakbunglow and find my luggage at the room where I would pass my night. I meet the boarder of that room who was a banker by profession. He was interested to have a good gossip as the caretaker told him about me. I asked few minutes from him as I was needing a shower badly. After I took my shower I start chatting with him and even the caretaker joined with us. After chatting for a long time I told him that I have to leave as the restaurant will be closed soon. He asked me to have his supper with him if I have no problem. He asked the caretaker to bring an extra meal. We continue our chatting. Later I went outside and walk around in that area. I also went to the bridge and took some junk food. I also talked to these street vendors about various subjects. I saw the lights of Fenchuganj Fertiliser Factory from far away. I watched boys playing Badminton under lights. After walking outside for a long time, I came back. The room-mate of mine was getting ready for the bed and said that my food is covered at my table. I put all my gadgets on charge, ate the supper and slept. Woke up too early at morning. After preparing myself and packing my luggage I asked the caretaker to help me for a photograph. The room-mate of mine also came outside to say goodbye. Next 25 minutes I took a lot of photo within the bridge area (On the bridge, River, Road, Stone carrying Boats, Cycle on the fog, etc). Then I start cycling but within 15 minutes I had to stop as I came to Train Signal without Safety Barricade. A man was signalling the train with two flags and placed a plain bamboo as a barricade on the road. I placed my cycle on the road away from the track. Then I took pictures of the signal-man and the train coming-crossing-going away from us. After the train left I start the cycle but couldn't go far due to some charming view by the highway. Taking lots of photo over there I kept cycling. Later I stopped for breakfast beside the road. it was an open-air breakfast for me very close to the running vehicles on the highway. The name of this place would be "Hajiganj Bazar" if I can recall correctly. After breakfast I start and stopped at "Moghla Bazar Train Station" to take some pic of the train. After leaving this place I reached the bridge on "Surma River" within an hour taking lots of pic. This bridge was in the main town of Sylhet. Again, I took some pics and went to the DC office. The NDC told me that they are too much busy as Chief-leader of the opposition political party will arrive in the town very soon. So, he prepared the letter fastest and got busy with his works. I went to the famous Kreen Bridge to search a computer shop. There I download all my pictures from camera and pen-drive and wrote them in CD. Then I went to a restaurant to get some food and after eating I cycled towards the next district of my route Sunamganj. I crossed the "Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet" and "M.A.Khan Bridge" and took some pic. About 3 o'clock I saw the sign that I am going to enter the Sunamganj District, the last one of Sylhet Division. |
